2017 FUN-FLYWe would like to personally thank all the pilots who showed up to our event. Also, a big thank you to all the club members and officers that helped organize and worked to make sure everything that needed to be done was accomplished. We also thank the Commerative Air Force Long Star Wing for bringing the PT-17 back again this year and the Civil Air Patrol for the flag ceremony. The NHS National Honor Society Volunteers who did a great job and were on point despite having to deal with Dale Jackson. We give a big shout out to JR Shoemake for his DJing. Last, but not least, we want to thank Mary Uresti for the use of the A L Mangham airport grounds and her staff for helping.
This year, Family Kite Fest is on World Autism Awareness Day. Some people chose to "Light it Up Blue." Some wear special shirts or get tattoos. All of these things signify something important to the people who do them, but a shirt is only as meaningful as the actions you take to further your cause.
At The Helping House, we believe that awareness is the first step toward understanding autism. People in all walks of life are affected by autism. Their lives can be different and tedious and amazing and challenging and precious and insightful and worrisome. With your help, we are able to provide valuable resources to these families right here in East Texas. It takes a village.
ABOUT OUR CLUB
Our flying site is located in beautiful East Texas at the A.L. Mangham Jr. Regional Airport in Nacogdoches. The club is chartered by AMA and is also a chapter of the Society of Antique Modelers. The club runway is an asphalt strip 75' by 540'. Our club recently completed building a 16' by 48' covered area with a concrete pad and a 16' by 12' storage shed for our club supplies and tractor. Clean restrooms are available in the Pilot's Lounge so bring your family along for a great time. The club has several qualified instructors with trainer planes and buddy boxes. We can provide a hands on flying experience to anyone of any age wanting to learn how to fly.
Club members fly both fuel and electric radio control airplanes and helicopters. Several members are building racing drones with the hopes to have some events at the flying field.
Click About Us for directions to the club, a list of officers and contacts, and other details. Visit our website often for the latest news and information and check out the other links on this page.
